Paul and Leah Manyara, Kenya–Terrorists

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…”

Our country has felt like this in the last couple of months. As many of you know, on September 21st, terrorists attacked one of our malls, killing over 60 people and injuring many. Property was also destroyed. It was hard and sad to see all of that happen. We praised the Lord for all the people who were rescued alive. We saw God’s Paul & Worship teamhand in the midst of the terrible things that happened. Thank you for praying. We are praying and trusting the Lord to protect us from more of those attacks. We have also had a number of really bad road accidents. Many people have lost their lives. In one of those accidents, 40 people died. We would ask you to please pray for safety and protection.

The different ministries are going well. We praise the Lord for the spiritual growth in the church. People are accepting Jesus as their Savior. On November 17th, 10 children were dedicated to the Lord. On December 15th, 14 people will be baptized. Please pray for them. More people are joining the church. we are still working on the church building and we trust that the Lord will continue providing funds so that we can complete it. We baptize people in a swimming pool but when our church is completed, we will have a place to baptize them. Please continue to pray with us.

Leah has been meeting with  3 ladies from our community at our home. She has been praying with them and encouraging them. Two of them (sisters) are single moms and they are unemployed. We have been praying that the Lord will provide jobs so that they will be able to feed their children. On November 2nd, Mary accepted Jesus as her Savior. She was not going to church before but now she has started going. Leah has also Salomeinvited her to go to the Thursday women’s prayer fellowship. Please pray for her to grow in the Lord.

SALOME: In our last letter, we asked you to pray for Salome. We praise the Lord for providing funds for her first year of nurse’s training. She was able to start. She is doing well. She did her first exams and passed. Thank you all for praying for her. We also thank those who gave the funds. She appreciates it very much.

GO MAD (make a difference) MINISTRY: We continue to deliver food to 36 families at 3 churches. It has been a real joy to visit one family at their home after we share God’s Word and pray with the other families. Anne is a single mom and a mother of two. She was married but after her husband died she went back home to live with her mother. She has health problems. She is HIV positive. She struggles to feed her children. When she is feeling better, she tries to grow some crops and also work in other peoples’ gardens to earn a little money. She lives in a very dry area. She walks a long distance to buy water when it is not available near her home. One day when Leah visited her home, her mother wanted to give us a rooster. Every one who was there chased it but no one was able to catch it. Guess what? It flew to the roof of the house and so there was our dinner. What goes up usually comes down. The next time we went to deliver food, the rooster was in chains (tied with string) and finally we had our rooster dinner. Please pray for Anne, her children and her mom.

We continue to encourage and grow together with the pastors and their wives. Leah continues to enjoy her Leah stuck while delivering food & blanketsmonthly meeting with the pastors’ wives. Paul and the pastors attended a 2-day Leadership Conference in Nairobi early this month.

FAMILY: God is working in our lives. We are very much encouraged when our children share with us what God is doing in their lives. God has provided good churches where they are taught His Word and enjoy the fellowship. Paul Jr. attended a men’s conference November 14-16th.

TEAMS: We are always encouraged by the mission teams that come to serve with us. Please pray for a team from Waukegan, Illinois that is planning to visit us at the end of July 2014.

We wish to thank you all for your prayers and financial support. It is a great help and we would not be able to serve effectively without your partnership.
