JANUARY 6, 2021

DEAR FRIENDS,

“That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:6

2020 has been a hard year and we hope that the New Year will bring a more peaceful one.

Looking back is difficult for many people. Last year brought heartache and loss, tragedy and sorrow. We do hope that we can turn the page to greater days ahead by rejoicing in the Lord.

God wants us to learn from the past and He wants us to thank Him for being with us through hard times and good times, to remember that He never leaves us nor forsakes us. This is the great hope for those who follow Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. We should not be bound by the past and its failures.

This is what the Apostle Paul’s goal was: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ” Philippians 3:13-14

May the New Year bring new opportunities to trust the Lord more and to grow in the knowledge of Him.

We want to share with you some news from two of our pastors.

FROM: PASTOR BRUCE, Kagome Lomé, the capital town

Receive friendly greetings from ADJO and Pastor BRUCE in the beautiful and precious Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We wish you best wishes for a happy New Year 2021.

Covid-19 has paralyzed our church activities. Since March 22, the Togo government has closed all churches, so our church, too. We had started 2020 well and in February, a brother from the church invited his classmate to worship with us. After the service, I spoke with our guest. I presented him the plan of salvation. He accepted Jesus as his Savior. He was barely a month old in faith when the church closed. His name is Marcos. He lost his mother at the age of five and
ten years later, his father died. He is an orphan without a father and mother. He lived with his uncle after the death of his parents. The uncle started drinking alcohol and he drove Marcos out from his home in May. I went and talked with the uncle. He took him back. In October, he chased him with a cutlass this time for good because of his faith. He has lived alone since that time. We take him under our responsibility. Marcos is in his final year of college. Marcos needs prayers for material and spiritual support.

My wife and I restarted reaching Afiadegnigban again. We tried it in the past but closed down a few years ago. We started worshipping in this church on November 15, 2020. There were nine people at this first meeting including four children. On November 22, there were 13 people including five children. On November 29th, there was my wife, a young man and me. Those who came told us that they could not come to worship with us anymore because their church is open.

My wife and I continue with door-to-door evangelism in the neighborhood. Thanks be to God, we have won some souls for Christ. We teach them the Word of God in their house. When we reach 10 members, we will start with the worship again.

The majority in the community are Catholics and Jehovah’s Witnesses. We need your prayers.

FROM: PASTOR NOAGBE AGBEVI H.

We arrived on the field, Kpalime, on the 25th of September 2020. These are some of our activities. We used to go out each Saturday from 9am to 4pm for door-to-door evangelism. Up to this day, we reached 44 people and five were baptized on December 23rd, 2020. I used to teach three groups in the community each Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 5:30pm. There are seven people present in group A from 2pm to 3pm. In group B, there are 5 people from 3:15pm to 4:10pm. In addition, in group C, there are four people from 4:20pm to 5:30pm. I meet with each group in a house. We had 10 on Sunday, December 27th, 2020.

Pastor Noagbe went through our Bible training class.

Please, pray for the Lord’s provision for a temporary building for their meetings. We own the land but no building yet. They are meeting in houses now.

May the will of the Lord be done in our life throughout this year 2021.

ALL THE GLORY TO HIS WONDERFUL NAME! WE LOVE YOU.

In the Service of the King of Kings,
Pastor Paul & Nicole ASSIGNON
